I left out quite a few days already but i still try to catch up if possible!
I´m still struggling with inkwash but one of my favourite Artists, Francis Manapul, started posting real time drawings on his Youtube. Since i adore his way of painting i decided to do a kind of draw along to his painting to get a better understanding how to use different ink values.
So the whole idea is from Francis Manapul, all credit to this image to him!
In the end this turned out very well. This took about an hour out of my day and i finally got a good grip on this ink wash thing. Basically i was still using too much ink and not enough water. A simpel solution but i kinda needed the push in the right direction.
This made my day! I had a great stream on twitch and the prompt was screaming for a Mr. Freeze sketch!
I knew i only had roughly 2 hours for this so i decided to go all digital. Since i was on my pc i used Clip Studio paint. Using multiple drawing softwares starts to take a toll. I had to look up some funtions again. Still, using a ruler and basically starting out drawing one half made it possible to do this sketch quickly.
I will use this sketch and color it the right way later to have a really nice piece for my collection!
Been really busy so i tried to think of something that could be done quickly with the right tools.
My smartphone (Samsung Galaxy Note8) was my tool for this one. It was a good opportunity to get back and use my Infinite Painter App again. I forgot how great the overall tools work. I haven´t created any new brushes for it. I just used the ones already in the app.
Luckily the app even has a function to record the drawings as a timelapse. So enjoy!
I finally got around to join the fun! I extended it to #cominktober. Meaning, i will keep a comic theme while still using the official prompt list!
#inktober really forces me to finally use what i have available. Because i´m really busy during the day i tried to make it easy for me to create. Meaning i have my office with a drawing table and my Kamvas Pro Tablet. But i usually only have time for this at night. So i also have a Samsung Phone and tablet with S-Pen. Those are always with me. I haven´t used them too much but i intend to change this now.
While i use Clip Studio Paint on my computer, i work with Sketchbook Pro lately on my phones. Having an IPad pro would ben ice so i could also work on Clip Studio while away from the office would be nice too. But that will have to wait lol
A recent commission that was definitely different from my usual drawing!
This was a lot of fun! I was asked to create this original character for a pen and paper game. The specifications were simple. Half Man half Banana.
I wasn´t sure which direction to go so I just looked at a couple of different Bananas and started to sketch away. The curved form made me think I really should use a more easy body language. From there it just grew to this. A few little extras for characterization and it was finished.
Done in Clip Studio Paint on my Huion Kamvas pro 13.
Talenthouse was doing another Contest sponsored by Warner where artists where encouraged to create static artwork for the Joker movie!
As you could see on my WIP image here i was going for an Oil paint look but still worked digital in Clip Studio Paint using my Huion Kamvas Pro 13 tablet.
Talenthouse is doing a lot of these contests so if you´re interestet you should check out their website and register.
If you know me just a little bit it ain´t hard to tell that the several incarnations of the Joker have always fascinated me. So when i saw this contest it was done deal to make something happen! I intended to create 3 or even 4 pieces but this painting swallowed a lot of time and i was also pretty busy with work and family so i just put everything in this piece alone.
Can´t wait to finally see Joaquin Phoenix in Todd Phillips Joker movie on October 4th!
